SPECIAL TELEGRAM. TITOKOWARU AT WAITOTARA.
LATER FROM PATEA.
It \ras reported in Whanganui oil Sunday morning last that Titokowaru was occupying Waifcotara, seven miles south of Wereroa. Cavalry instantly started to reinforce Wereroa, and the first-class militia started the sam c day. On Monday, Durie, jun., reached Whanganui, and reported that his house, on the north bauk of the Waitotara,was attacked on Saturday night. The inmates, although warned, had scarcely time to escape. Durie, -who had not time to clothe himself, eßcaped into the scrub, and, after being secreted there some hours, succeeded in cros»ing the river unobserved. On receipt of this intelligence in Wellington last evening, 150 men from Auckland, who will form the No. 6 dirision of Armed Constabulary, under the command of Major St. John, were despatohed by special iteamer.
