The notioe oonvening the meeting having been re*d, and the electors having been oalled upon to propose a oandidate, Mr. K. Bartley proposed Mr. Jobn Granam, ot Newton. , , , Mr. Patrick Brahany seconded; and, there being no other candidate, • - The Returning Officer declared Mr. John Graham to be duly elected. Mr. O'Rorke: That closes the business, and 1 certainly cannot compliment the electors of East Ward No. 1 on the interest they take in the affair* of their frard. , Mr. Stainbs moved a vote of thanks to the Returning Officer. Mr. O'Kobke : I am much obliged to you, and 1 wish you would induce your brother electors to 1 muster in greater numbers on occasions suoh aa these that concern their immediate interests. The meeting then dispersed.
