H.M. s.s. Brisk, Captain Hope, left for tbe Bay of Islands yesterday, with his Excellency the Governor, the Earl of Pembroke, Captain Young, A.D.C., and Colonel Elliot on board. We understand that the Brisk -will probably be about a week on the excursion. The Colonial Government p.s. Sturt, Captain Fairchild, left the harbour yesterday morning for the Bay of Islands, with a party of gentlemen, among whom were th 9 flon. J. C. Richmond, Mr. Carleton, and others, who intend to be present at the great native meeting which is to be held at that place ou the 17th instant. The steamers Midge and Enterprise No. 2 arrived from the Thames last night, with a number of pas* sengers. The schooner Elf arrived yesterday morning from Mangapai, with 2 tons kauri gum and a quantity of settlers' produce. She left Mangapai on Monday, and experienced strong northerly winds along the coast. The schooner Argo sailed for Whangarei yesterday, having on board a cargo of sundries and 4 passengers. The cutter Hero arrived yesterday morning from Whangarei, with 4 tons gum, 14 tons bark, 1 ton luggage, and 9 passengers. She left Whangarei on Tuesday night, and had northerly winds throughout the passage. The s.s. Taurang* left for the Thames yesterday morning, with a number of passengers, and returned again in the evening. The cutter Wangarei sailed for Whangarei last night, with sundries.
