SOIREES. WELLESLEY-STREET SUNDAYSCHOOL.

The anniversary soirge of the Wellesley-street Sunday-school was held last evening in the aohoolroom adjoining the chapel. There was a crowded attendance, including the teachers and several of the older pupils. ... , The Rev. P. H. Corotord occupied thechwr, and opened the proceedings by Borne remarks upon the subject of Sunday-schools. He urged upon the teachers present, the importance of their work, ana the necessity of giving their whole energies to it. Mr. Wblis, secretary, then read the yearly report, which stated that, notwithstanding the number of families which had left town during the last year, the scholars attending the school bad actually increaied. A serious loss had been sustained by Mr. Carson having left for Wellington. The advance^ Bible class continued to meet, and a teacher w*s wanted for it. The infant class, under Mrs. Munday, had been successfully conducted throughout the year. The report concluded by saying that the balance-sheet would show a prosperous state of things in a monetary point of view. The Chairman said that in such times as these it was refreshing to hear of a dnancial statement which would show a balance Id hand. Mr. Battlet, treasurer, then read the following balance-sheet : —

The meeting was afterwards addressed by different gentlemen, and several pieces of music were performed by x choir.
