POLICE COURT.— Saturday. [Before T. Beckham, Esq., R.M.]
Deunkenniss. — Michael Mullins was fined 10s. and costs, or to undergo twenty-four hours' imprisonment. Vagrancy. — James Heaton was charged with a breach of the Vagrant Act, by having no risible means of support. — Cod stable Foster gave evidence as to the charge. — Defendant was ordered to be imprisoned for a month with hard labour. Abusive and Threatening Language. — James Williams and Hugh George were charged with using abusive and threatening language to Thomas S. Downes, master of the • Percy' schooner. — Complainant deposed that prisoners had been seamen on board the ' Percy.' He had discharged them on the 25th. On the 26th Williams seized him by the collar, asked for the wages due to him, and threatened hh life. George also threatened him, and they both followed him through the streets. He was in fear that they would do him some harm. — Senry Parker, messenger at the Customs, deposed that the prisoners had acted in a violent manner. — Complainant admitted that three days' pay was due to the prisoners. — The Bench ordered the prisoners to find two sureties of £10 each to be of good behaviour for fourteen days. — This concluded the business.
