THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH IN TASMANIA.

The programme for the entertainment of the Duke of Edinburgh in Tasmania appears in the Times of the 12th inBtant,and is as follows :— " The Prince will land in state on the 31st of this month. The aquatic procession and torchlight gerenade will take place the same evening; when bonfires will be kindled on conspicuous eminences iv the neighbourhood of Hobart Town, and fireworks will be displayed in the Domain. yOn v On New Year's Day the Prince will lay the foundation stone of the new Cathedral, and hold a levee at Government House. On the 2nd January his Royal Highness will honour the Hobart Town annual regatta with his presence. In the evening will take place the Governor's ball in the Town Hall, at which the Prince will be the* honoured and distinguished guest of the evening. The 3rd of January will be devoted to a visit to New Norfolk and the salmon ponds. The general illumination will take place the same night. The 4th January will be occuppied with the cricket match between the officers of H.M.s. 'Galatea' and eleven of the Southern Tasmanian Cricket Association ; athletic sportfi and pastimes in the Domain ; and the firing by the Artillery Volunteers for the Government annual prizes, with great guns, from the Queen's Battery. This ends the week. On Monday, the 6th January, the Prince will go as far as Mona Vale, on his way to Launceston. On the 7th January his Royal Highness will entei Launceston iv state. No official announcement intimates the Royal movements in Launceston. But the programme contains an assurance that his Royal Highness will return to Hobarfc Town so as to attend the ' Colonists' Ball ' in the Town Hall on the night of Friday, the 10th January, and that the state departure from Hobart Town will take place on the following day."
