General Merchandise: Business has been very dull in the import market during the week. Ihe various demonstrations in honour of the visit of his Royal Highness have received, most attention. With the exception of sales by auction, very few transactions have taken place. Messrs. Townsend, Bolting, and Kay offered the cargo of sugars ex 'Prospero,' from Mauritius, and succeeded m disposing of the major portion of it. The same firm also submitted the remainder of the teas ex «Blairmore'from Foochow, and sold 130 chests at £7 5s to £7 10s ; 900 half-chests, at £3 12s 6d to £4 ; and 2,560 boxes, at 23s to 23s 4d. Corn Market: Sales of wheat have taken place durin? the week at quotations, but the market at present is dull. Of flour we have no export sales to report. In barley and oats there is nothing doing, and no inquiry. There have been moderate sales of bran and pollard for home consumption. We quote wheat, town, 4s 7d ; port, 4s 9d to 4s 1M ; flour town, £11 10s to £12; country, , £11 to £11 10s ; barley, Cape, 2s 6d to 3s; English 3s 6d to 4s; oats, English, 3s 6d to 4s; bran, 9d; pollard, la. The following vessels have sailed with cereals on board since our Jast report :— ' Berar,' ship, for London, 9,210 bags flour, 1,000 q« arte " **"»*» •Crown ' brig, for Auckland, 2,724 bags wheat, 300 bags flour, 148 bags bran; 'Penola,' steamer, for Melbourne, 40J tons flour ; • Lily,' brig, for Sydney,, 339 tons flour. Vessels cleared: Carnaquheen, ship, for London, 200 barrels flour; 'Jessie Kelly, brig for Brisbane, 202 tons flour. Vessels losing : For London, 'Martha Birnie,' ship; f°rEio de Janeiro, 'Ino,' barque; for Newcastle, Galatea brieantine. The railway and coasters have brought to the port during the week about 360 tons cereals.— Advertiser, November 11.
