The Press, of November 11th last, gives the following commercial report : — Very little business was transacted duriDg the past week owing to the two great annual agricultural and pastoral exhibitions being held at Kaiapoi and Chmtchurch on Wednesday and Friday last, both days, likewise Saturday, the Prince of Wales s birthday, being holidays. The arrival of the 'Mehta, from London, will not affect values of stocks, as the greater portion of her cargo is for Timaru, to which port she will proceed after discharging ihe Christchurch portion of her goods. Mie will load wool from Timaru for London direct. There has been no change in prices of grain or farm produce throughout the week. The same paper, of November 14th, says : — H. Matßon and Company report a full market of both cattle and Bheep at the Carleton saieyards yesterday. Eighty head of cattle were yarded and 1,000 sheep. H, Matson and Co. sold 45 head of cattle and 200 sheep at the following rates :— Calves, from £1 15s to £3 17s 6d each ; milch cowb, from £8 10s to £16 each ; fat cows, from £12 10s to £18 each; fat steers, from £11 5s to £17 10s each ; store cows, from £7 to £9 10s each ; and 200 hoggets, from 8s 3d to 8a 6d each.
