OLD COLONISTS' DINNER.
The dinner of old colonists, to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the arrival of passengers per ships 'Jane Gifford and 'Duchess of Argyle,' will take place at the Odd Fellows' Hall this evening, and promises to be a great success. The promoters of the undertaking wero busily engaged yesterday in completing the necessary preliminaries, decorating the hall for the occasion, and doing all they could to ensure the success of this quarter of a century re-union of old colonists and their friends. The sale of tickets reported to the committee yesterday numbered upwards of 150, and no doubt this total will be considerably augmented to-day. The dinner will be supplied by Mr. I. JB.Vialou,of the Auckland Hotel, which will be a sufficient guarantee of its excellence. _An efficient band has been engaged for the occasion, which will be stationed in the orchestra during the dinner, and be available for the ball which is to come off afterwards. The chair will be taken precisely at 7 o'clock by Mr. James Eobertson, Mr. George Webster filling the vice-chair. It is to be regretted that, owing to the sitting of the Assembly, his Honor the Superintendent, Mr. Robert Graham, and a number of other old colonists, will be prevented from joining in this interesting celebration.
