PROVINCIAL COUNCIL ELECTION,NORTHERN DIVISION.

The poll for the election of a candidate for the Provincial Council in the Northern Division took place yesterday. The priucipal polling-place was at the Pilot-station, Flagstaff, North Shore, where numerous electors residing in Auckland resorted, to vote for the different candidates. At 3 o'clock in the afternoon a number of electors assembled on the Queen- street Wharf for the purpose of proceeding to the I s orth Shore, but the steamer did not run her usual 8 o'clock trip, and a cutter was therefore chartered by Mr. Morrow in order to give the electors an •pportunity of exercising their votes.
