PROVINCIAL COUNCIL ELECTION,NORTHERN DIVISION.
The poll for the election of a candidate for the Provincial Council in the Northern Division took place yesterday. The priucipal polling-place was at the Pilot-station, Flagstaff, North Shore, where numerous electors residing in Auckland resorted, to vote for the different candidates. At 3 o'clock in the afternoon a number of electors assembled on the Queen- street Wharf for the purpose of proceeding to the I s orth Shore, but the steamer did not run her usual 8 o'clock trip, and a cutter was therefore chartered by Mr. Morrow in order to give the electors an •pportunity of exercising their votes. The result of the poll at the Flagstaff was in favour of Mr. Morrow, who had a majority of 30 over his opponent, the total numbers beiDg : — Morrow ... . ... ... 73 O'Neill 43 The polling-place at Stokes's Point was at Mr, Reid'a residence, and at 4 o'clock punctually the poll was closed with the following result : — O'Neill 17 Morrow 3 The result of the poll at the other polling-places in the Division may be expected to be received within the next few days.
