Messrs. R. Aitken and Co., through Mr. Finnlmore, conducted an extensive sale of sheep, imported from Auckland, on Thursday last. The iheep were all penned *nd ontalogued, although there weresom* lapses, as the stormy passage of the s.s. • Rangatua proved too muoh for some of the animus, that either perished on the voyage or succumbed under iU hardship after being landed. The prices irere not equal to those realised at previous sales of the same kind: still fair value wai obtained. Mr. F, B. Chalmers invested in five Lincoln frwo«tooth rams, at an average of £12 a piece. Mr. J. Dunotn paid £10 for a Lincolu hog ram, and Mr. George Walker £11 for another. Mr. Mcßeth, Mr. Buokthought, Mr. Goodson, Mr. Rockel, Mr. Craske, Mr. Finnimore, Sec, were among the purchasers. A champagne lunch was served in a marquee in the yard ■where tht sale took place. — Wanganui Chronicle, March 23.
