THE "REGULAR MAN-0,-WAR."
To tht Editor of tht Daily Soutmrn Gross. Sib, — Had Mr. Firth at one time been a regular ♦' man-o-war," I don't iee that he now is so very inconsistent *■ * " Constant Reader" wishes to make out. Mr. Firth no doubt believed that punishment should follow murders, assassinations, and rebellion, and that the much-vaunted power o! England was able to inflict it and to sustain the supremacy of the Crown. Bat when he finds that the strength on which our faith has betn fixed from Qur cradles is but a myth, or but capable of injuring those whom it was supposed to protect, I think he, and all of us, hare * perfect right to make the best of the situation and look for protection where it may be found. — Yours, &c, Another Constant Eiadeb. -
