Business during the week has been pretty active, but there is not much alteration to report in the state of our markets. The news by the English mail, as contained in our telegram, has not yet caused any fluctuations iv prices; but the satisfactory report of the London wool market will doubtless tend to strengthen prices. We subjoin the latest report of our markets :—: — Floub. — This market has been rather firmer during the week, and as pricss have advanced in the neighbouring colonies, buyers have been more disposed to operate freely at the reduction that has lately taken place. Some large sales of flour aud wheat have consequently taken place both at auction and privately. To-day, the c.irgo of Chilian flour ex 'Marina 1 was sold by auction at from £18 to £18 7b. 6d. per ton, and the wheat at 7s. 9d. per bushel, bags Is. each. Adelaide first brands are still quoted at £22 to £22 10s. ; Californian, £20 to £21 ; Chilian, £18 10a., to £19 10s. per ton. Wheat is also firmer. Adelaide, Bs. 6d. to Bs. 9d. ; Chilian and Californian, 7s. 6d. to Bs. Liquors are without iruch alteration. Ale in bulk is firmer, and Marian's is quoted at £7 12s. 6d. to £7 153. Porter in bulk is very scarce ; Taylors is worth from £7 ss. to £7 10s. Bottled ale is in fair request, at 2d. 6d. to 10s. 3d. for first brands. Bottled port6r inquired for, and first brands saleable, at lls. Brandy ia steady; Martell's, 7s. 3d. to 7s. 6d. Bum, 30 0.p., 3s. 3d. to 3s. 4d. Geneva, 10s. 6d. to lls. In wines some parcels have quitted at auction at full rates. • Teas are rather firmer than last week, in consequence of large shipments to Melbourne. Congous are quoted at £5 10s. to £7 for medium to good, aud £7 10s. to £10 for good to fine. Superfine teas range from £10 to £12 per chest. Boxes are quoted at 225. to 255. Sugars continue to maintain the advance that has lately taken place. The following are the quotations for Mauritius sugars :— Crystals, £43 .t0 £46; yellow counters, £39 to £41 ; brown, £35 to £37 ; ration, £28 to £30. Coffee is a shade flatter. Manila, Bd. to 9d. per lb in bond; plantation, lid. to 12d. per lb. in bond. ; Candles are inquired for, and have advanced about Id. per lb. JTull weights are quoted at 14£ d. to 15d. per lb. Rice. — There is very little doing in this article. Patna is worth £25 to £26 per ton. Java, none in the market. Salt is pretty firm. Liverpool, £3 10s. to £3 12s. 6d. per ton. Fine salt, £3 15s. to £4 per ton. In rock salt there is not so much doing, and price still £5 10a. 6d. to £6 per ton. Provisions continue to command very high rates, shipments being small. Cheese is worth Is. 4d. to Is. 6d. according to quality ; hams, Is. 4d to Is. Bd.; bacon, 15d. to 16d. per lb. Dried Fruits. — Currants are firm, and range from 64d. to 6^d. per lb. ; raisins, 7 id. to Bd. per lb. ; figs in better supply, and quoted at 14d. per lb. Oilmen's Stokes. — Well-assorted invoices are in request at full rates. Pickles and oils still very scarce, but mustard and bottled fruits are dull of sale. Tallow. — The market was well supplied, but the prices obtained for beef of first quality were quite equal to the rates ruling last week. 226 casks of tallow were offered, and about 188 were sold at prices ranging from £42 ss. to £51 per ton, for beef and station tailow. Hides were rather dull of sale, but first-class heavy hides brought extreme rates, one lot being sold as high as 20s. each. About 1,300 were sold to-day at <ii. to 10s. for light to medium, and 10s. 6d. to 14s. 9d. for heavy, and, 16a. 3J. to 20d. for extra weights. — Ibid.
