The Herald of the 17th has the following :— Mr. J. U. Sharland sold by auction, on Weduesday last, a lot of horses driven into town by the Mounted Force, under Captain Mace, which were captured by them on their way up from Wanganui. There were about thirty head, bub several were not put up, having been claimedby friendly natives. These are retained at present by their captors, until, it ii said, General Chute's arrival. The following were the prices realued : —1 chesnut horse, £14 10s. j 1 brown mare, £13 ; 1 white gelding, £7 55. ; 1 dark bay mare, £20 ; 1 bay gelding, £14 10s. ; bay entire, £14 10b.; black filly, £7; brown filly, £6 155.; bay colt, £7 ss. ; bay filly, £7 7e. ; bay ditto, £11 10s.; bay colt, £6 155.; chesnut filly, £10 15«. At the conclusion of this sale the auctioneer sold a cart-horse, which fetched £30 ; a chesnut mare, belonging to an officer of the 43rd L.1., with saddle, bridle, &c, for £19 55.; a black mare for £11 15a.; a brown colt for £6 10s.; and a brown gelding for £10 ss. Mr. F. XL GledhilTs sale of cattle and horses was held on Thursday last. A large number of cattle were offered, but prices ranging so very low, the greater portion was withdrawn. The following are the average prices of those disposed of: — Milch cows, from £8 to £10 each ; working steers, £9 to £11 each • working bullocks, £14 to £15 each ; hack horses, £15 ; colts, £8.
