CORONER'S JURIES.

To the Editor of the Daily Southern Cross. Sir, — May I replyto a correspondent, signing himself " A County Coroner," wishing to prove to me that a juryman can give evidence. He cites one or two instances of such being the case? He says they are allowed to do so by the coroner in a thinly populated district ; but surely he will not say that Auckland is such. ? I say that no juryman ought to be allowed to give evidence. If such had been the case with all his brother jurymen, there would have been no occasion for them to hold an inquest, as the verdict would have already been decided upon. Here, in this case, there was no accused party ; but when a man enters a jury box his mind should be divested from the case altogether. Apologising for trespassing so much on your space, — I have, &c , Fair Plat.
