THE THREE MILLION LOAN.
Amongst the passengers by the ' Lord Ashley.' which leaves to-day, is the Hon. Header Wood, Colonial Treasurer, who is going home on the business of the Government. We understand that the most important part of his mission will be that of obtaining the Imperial guarantee on the £3,000,000 loan, which, if he succeeds in. doing, will have the effect of saving the colony 1 per cent, on that amount, or £30,000 per anmim. This is certainly an object worth striving for, and there is no reason to doubt its accomplishment. Mr. Wood will no doubt represent the G-ovornment in other matters aflecting the interests of the colony, but the above is, we believe, the main object of his visit to England.
