By the " "White Swan" we are put in possession of papers up to the 10th ult. The Provincial Council wa* itill in Session, And proceeding with the buiiness of the Prorince. A Criminal Sitting of the Supreme Court wm held on the Ist ult., before Mr. Justice Gresion. The Calendar wm rather a heavy one. There w one owe of a wife charged with the murder>of her husband by poisoning; one of wounding, with intent to do, some grievous bodily harm ; one of embezzlement, and two or three cases of larceny. The trial of Christina Gregg, for poisoning her husband, occupied two days, and excited considerable interest. The evidence adduced was principally circumstantial ; and an important link in the chain was wanting, vk. : the purchase or possession of the poison by the prisoner. After a patUnt investigation, the jury returned *Terdict of not guilty, and the prisoner wm discharged.
