NURSES’ SALARIES
Minister’s View Of Board’s Attitude He had been very interested to read the report of the Wellington Hospital Board’s discussion on nurses’ salaries, said the Minister of Health, Nordmeyer, yesterday. “As a matter of fact, the board has, since April. 1944, been paying its staff nurses and ward sisters below the scale approved by the Stabilization Commission. “As I indicated recently, the commission has under consideration a fresh scale submitted by the Nurses’ Association and the Hospital Boards’ Association, and I understand that its decision will shortly be announced. It will be interesting to see whether hospital boards will actually pay their staffs what the new scale permits.”
