Hutt Championship
The annual championship tourney of the Hutt Valley Table Tennis Association was concluded last night. G. Corbett beat the holder of the men’s open singles, F. Paton. Miss M. Wareham (Wellington Technical) holds three of the open titles Results are :— Open Events.
Men's Singles Championship.—Semifinals: F. Paton (Auckland) beat J. Crossley (Wellington), 21-19, 19-21, 21-16, 13-21, 25-23; G. Corbett (Hutt) beat S. Headerson (Hutt), 21-12, 21-18, 21-10. Final. Corbett beat Paton, 19-21, 21-15, 23-21, 2118.
Women's Singles Championship.—Final: Miss M. Wareham (Wellington) beat Miss D. Croxton (Wellington), 21-19, 21-12. Men's Doubles Championship.— Semifinals: F. Mooney and Crossley (Wellington) beat D. Hurdley and 11. Konnetly (Wellington), 21-17, 21-18, 20-22, 21-13; J. Knowsley (Hutt) and L. Howe (Wellington) bent J. Wall and Henderson (Hutt), 21-16, 21-16, 21-16. Final: Knowsley aud Howe beat Mooney and Crossley, 21-12, 21-15, 21-19. Women's Doubles Championship.—Final: Misses Croxton and Wareham beat Miss B. Strang and Mrs. M. Haines (Hutt), 21-13, 21-13. . Mixed Doubles Championship.—Final: Corbett and Miss Wareham beat Patou and Mrs. E. Longniore (Hutt). 21-15, 2321. Other Events. Junior Championship (under 18). —Singles: E. Walsh (Hutt) beat K. Carlton (Hutt), 21-17, 21-18. Doubles: K. Tracey and T. McArthur (Wellington) beat J. Reeves aud W. Ingram (Hutt), 21-12, 2111). B Grude Championship.—Singles: N. Caton (Wellingtoni beat C. Smith (Wellington), 21-12, 22-24, '2l-15. Doubles: Carlton and It. G. Wade (Hutt) beat N. Caton and L, Wilson (Wellington), 21-19, 19-21. 21-15. C Grade Championship.—Singles: Walsh beat R. Miles (Hutt), 21-17, 21-11. Doubles: Walsh aud K. Pettit (Hutt) beat It. Walker and C. Pegler (Hutt), 21-17, 21-11.
