FLOOD CONTINUES TO RECEDE

Position In South Otago (By Telegraph. —Press Association.) DUNEDIN, March 7. The south Otago flood continues to recede. The level has fallen a foot since .Sunday, though over the Stirling, Benhar, Lovell’s Flat and Kaitangata districts the water still covers a large area. In view of the greatly improved situation in Kaitangata some residents whose homes were flooded resumed occupation this morning and began the task of cleaning out the silt deposits. There are still many houses in the town and farming districts either flooded or completely surrounded by water.
