Wellington Sittings
The most serious criminal charge for hearing at the forthcoming sittings of the Supreme Court in Wellington, opening on October 24, is one of murder, and there are also cases of assault and robbery and indecent assault. In addition, the list, which totals 11 cases, contains five involving theft or receiving, one of unlawful use of an instrument, and one of bookmaking. There will be a third hearing of the charges against two men relating to the operation of an unlicensed still, the previoiig-hearings of which resulted in jury disagreementin the civil list, there are 24'cases set down for hearing by a judge and jury of 12, two to be heard before a judge and jury of four, and 13 for hearing by A judge alone. Among those to be heard by a judge and jury of 12 is the libel action of the Y.M.O.A. against Truth (iN.Z.) Ltd., for which a period up to a week has been allotted.
