REPUBLICAN SUPPORT
(Received October 1.7, S.ISO p.m.) NEW YORK. October 17. The formation of a “Republicans for Roosevelt Committee” has been announced by Mr. Bartley Crum, a San Francisco attorney, who was formerly head of the late Mr. Wendell Willkie's California committee. Mr. Crum said: "Our hope that the Republican Party provide leadership in foreign affairs was shattered by a, platform iu which isolationists and nationalist influence succeeded in introducing an extremely broad escape clause allowing the party to evade a forthright commitment of effective aid in the maintenance of world peace.” A Roosevelt administration is essential iu building a lasting peace, not an uneasy armistice to set the stage for a catastrophic third world war.” Mr. Crum added that the “Republicans for Roosevelt Committee” was formed prior to Mr. Willkie's death.
