MAIN TRUNK TRAINS
Allocation Of Sleepers The attachment of one sleeper car. to the main trunk services instead of using the cars' exclusively for the limited expresses between Auckland add AVcllington was suggested hy Air. Alassey (Opposition. Franklin) in the House yesterday during consideration of the Railways Department estimates. He said that at present 10 sleepers were attached to the expresses each week. The. main trunk trains stopped at more stations and arrived at 7 a.m., an hour suggestive of the use of sleeper cars. He did not think this would be prevented 'by war conditions. The Minister of Railways, Air. Semple, said it was not possible, to put more sleepers on the trains till the coal position improved. , , Air. Alassey said the Alinister had missed his point. He was not asking for more sleepers,, but a wider distribution over more trains.
