Patriots Eat Dogs THOUSANDS SEEK REFUGE (By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright.) (Received September 28, 7.30 p.m.) . ’ LONDON, September 27. The communique from the commander of the Polish Home Army, General Bor, reports a continuance of heavy fighting in the city. Soviet planes have dropped further arms and ammunition. The patriots resisting in Warsaw are eating dogs, according to a message reaching the Polish Government in London. The food supplies dropped from the air are nearly exhausted. The old dstrict of Warsaw is wholly destroyed by German gunfire, and the centre of the city is being systematically destroyed with typical German thoroughness. The inhabitants are only able to move about from cellar to cellar by underground passages. The water mams are destroyed and there is no light. , Thousands of Poles left Warsaw without a single possession. Over 20,090 Lett the city by going to the boundaries and waving white handkerchiefs. Those who remain are nearing the end of their endurance. ‘ . . , The horror of the approaching winter is making itself felt, because huts, are almost the only structures remaining standing. ~ ■ The Foreign Secretary, Mr. Eden, said in the House of Commons today that Britain had approached the Soviet regarding reports that members of the. Polish underground army, who were acting under orders of the Polish Government and had co-operated with the Russian forces, had been deported by the Soviet authorities. The Soviet Government had replied that these reports did not give a true picture of events, and almost. all the Polish army detachments, found in Poland were now fighting alongside the Russians.
