Gandhi-Jinnah Talks Fail (Received September 28 7 p.m.) BOMBAY, September 27. In a statement regarding his talks with Mahatma Gandhi, which were about the Moslem plan for Pakistan (separate Hindu and Moslem States), Dr. Jinnah, president of the Moslem League, said: “I failed iu the task of converting Mr. Gandhi. We hope the public will not be embittered when the correspondence is published, and we trust that this will not be--the cud of our effort.” Mr. Gandhi, addressing a prayer meeting, said that the failure of the negotiations need not be a cause for despair. They had parted friends and would come together again. He appealed to the public to bring about a settlement of the conflicting views.
