POLES FIGHTING ON FIERCELY
Ebb And Flow In Warsaw (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, August 23. The battle inside Warsaw goes on. This morning’s communique from General Bors says that throughout yesterday the whole city was subjected to harassing artillery, mortar lire, and air bombardment, Poles stormed the building of the Bank of Poland and arc holding two important streets in the business quarter of Warsaw. The traincar depot at Maranow has been abandoned and strong detachments are at Radziwill Palace.
In the inner town there are powerful German strongpoints. The Poles stormed the telephone , exchange, killing 36 Germans, wounding six, and taking 114 prisoners. Resistance on the part of the soldiers and the population is being put to a heavy test owing to the great technical superiority of the enemy, added the communique.
