CITY CAMP OPENS
Boys Addressed By Mr. Nash The XVellington Eoys’ Institute’s city camp was opened this week, the Minister of Finance, Mr. Nash, attending. The Minister told the boys something of Ills experiences on recent flights across the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. He also recounted the story of the fight with a Japanese submarine of their own heroic ships, the Kiwi and the Moa. off Guadalcanal. Finally Mr. Nash told (he lads thnt they lived in one of the best little countries in the world, which had become known and respected by the courage, initiative, and decency o£ its armed forces serving overseas. These men had done the greatest job the world had known from such a small country. In the second morning of the “camp” 125 boys visited a skating rink. The lunchhour speaker was Mr. E. Buckton, who was on Mr. Nash’s staff in America, and who gave a talk on camping j n the United Stales compared with New Zealand.
