RUHR VALLEY OUTPUT
Internationalization Urged
(Received August 21, 9.13 p.m.) NEW YORK, August 21. The internationalization of the Ruhr Valley as one step to be taken to prevent future wars was proposed at a Press conference by the Republican candidate for the Presidency, Mr. Dewey. The Ruhr production, he said, could be made available for all the countries pf Europe. . . , .. . Mr. Dewey said he was convinced that the neutralization of the Ruhr as an effective producer of armaments was essential to the peace objective. Jhe problem is complicated by the fact that the Ruhr is Europe’s greatest mass production area. . . “If Europe is to attain a sufficient degree of economic stability, the benefits of the Ruhr production will have to be made available to all countries in Europe, while, as a primary objective, the Ruhr must forever be forbidden to make military weapons for potential use by a revived, aggressive Germany. “In addition, the whole economic rehabilitation of Europe is essential. .' One of our prime objectives must be to build for a better opportunity for economic expansion, and to find markets among the European countries.”
