WOMEN’S INTEREST

A meeting convened by tbe Wellington district 'Women’s Christian Temperance Union was recently held in tbe Wesley Church Parlour. Taranaki Street.. About 100 women from various organizations were present to hear Mr. Milner, general superintendent of the New Zealand Alliance. Thev manifested interest .to learn all they could about the promised Royal Commission into the licensing laws of New Zealand and the result of the Invercargill experiment. At the close of his talk Mr. Milner was asked many questions. ' \ , Mrs. Patterson proposed a vote ot thanks to Mr. Milner, adding that "knowledge was power.” and Mr. Milner had shown how much women needed to know today. During the afternoon tea recess he spoke- of weaknesses in the Carlisle system. The Wellington central branch, of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union were the hostesses for the afternoon.
