Vice-Regal. Government House. Wellington, August IS. This afternoon their Excellencies the Governor-General and Lady Newall. attended by Maior H. A. Jaffray. were present at a reunion, held by the Wellington Early Settlers’ and Historical Association.
Detective C. D. Taylor, who has been attached to the detective office in Wellington for four years, has been transferred to Hamilton ami will leave to commence duty there shortly. Detective Tnvlor joined the police force as n constable seven years ago. He has received presentations from the officer in charge of the detective branch. Inspector Dunlop. also from the Police Tennis Club and Police Pipe Band, of which he was a member.
Mr. F. J. E. Jollie, who recently returned from military service overseas, has taken up his new position as lecturer in horticulture at Massey Agricultural College. Palmerston North. Mr. Jollie. who has had English and European experience. ami holds the horticultural certificate of the Royal Botanic Gardens. Kew. the Now Zealand National Diplopia and (lie Cockayne Gold Medal in Horticulture (1937), was in charge of the propagating department of the Christchurch Botanic Gardens before going on active service. He brings to the college wide knowledge of commercial nursery work.
