Radio Programmes
Sir, —Most people do not care what sort of programmes the ZB stations put on, for not many can listen for long to an irritating flow of conversational advertising. But what they generally suggest is that one of the YA stations be devoted to good classical music. It is futile, for “Appreciative Listener” to say that it is only necessary to tune in to 2YH to get classical music, because be need only look at the list of programmes to see what a very small proportion of the time of even this station is devoted to good music. To accede to this modest request and assure the lovers of good music that they may have their own station to which to listen in any snare moments, day and night, would be gratefully appreciated. The lovers of swing and jazz could then have all the other stations. Many times has one had to turn the radio off because every station was devoted to light music and light entertainment. But never has every station been devoted to good music at the same time. —I am, etc., OLD SOLDIER. ■Lower Hutt, August 16.
