Egg Marketing Scheme (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) OAMARU, July 29. In connexion with the reduction of egg prices by 4d. a dozen as from Monday next, because of the natural seasonal increase in production. Mr. T. Gill, chairman of the New Zealand Poultry Board, stated today that an egg schedule to cover the rise and fall in prices in conformity with the Government’s stabilization policy had been agreed on by the Stabilization Commission. Price Tribunal, Internal Marketing Division and the New Zealand Poultry Board. “The first price fall on this schedule.” said Mr. Gill, “should have taken place on July 17. but through an oversight this reduction has been delayed for a week and has not become effective till July 24, therefore in order to preserve the correct over-all stabilized cycle prices it has been necessary to increase the rate of subsequent reduction.” This, he said, would account for the fall in prices'being Id. in excess of the reduction that took place at this time last year. The position, however, would come into order by the time egg prices had reached their flush period level, and producers would have received the full price return as agreed on under the schedule, while the consuming public would also have their eggs at the over-all stabilized price. In addition, said Mr. Gill, producers marketing through the approved egg floors would receive 3d. a dozen extra by way of subsidy throughout, the yenr.
