Portuguese Liner En Route To Canada (British Official Wireless.) (Received June 1. 8.30 p.m.) RUGBY, May 31. A German submarine stopped the Portuguese passenger liner Sepapinto in mid-ocean on Friday and after threatening to torpedo the vessel took prisoner two American citizens, says a Philadelphia message. Three passengers, including a 16 months old baby, lost their lives when the 385 passengers and crew wore told to abandon ship by officers of the submarine. Later, however, the German officers allowed the passengers, who were European refugees bound for Canada, to return to the ship and permitted the vessel to proceed to Philadelphia.
