FURTHER SLIPS
Taupo And Wairoa Roads Still Closed Dominion Special Service. HASTINGS, June L Further slips have occurred on the Na-pier-Taupti and Napier-Wairoa roads, and according to informal ion received at midday today both these roads are Closed. On flic Taupo road there is a large slip near Tarawera and on the Wairoa road, three miles south of Wairoa, at Turiroa, there is another large slip. It was thought both roads would be open again by this morning, but if more rain falls further trouble is likely. Cars travelling on the Wairoa road yesterday were using the railway bridges and the latest reports state that the road in tho vicinity of the Mohaka cutting is in a very bad state. After a hill yesterday in the heavy rain which has been falling in Hastings and other parts of Hawke's Bay over tho past few days, rain started to fall again in Hastings late last night, and the new month of June did not open auspiciously. However, after a showery morning the rain eased off, but. this evening the indications were that there might lie a further downpour.
