Appointment of Director
The appointment of Dr. Duncan Cook, Medical Officer of Health, Palmerston North, to the position of Director, Division of Health Benefits in tjie head the Health Department, was announced 1 yesterday by the Minister of Health, Mr. Nordmeyer.' This appointment was previously held by Dr. F. S. Maclean, whose transfer to other duties had caused the vacancy. Dr. Cook will be fesponsible for the administration of that part, of the Social Security Act administered by the Minister of Health. Dr. Cook first joined the Health Department in 1980, when he was appointed” Medical Officer of Health, Dunedin. In 1932 he was transferred to a similar position at Whangarei, and in 1938 to Palmerston North. Before joining the department, Dr. Cook had considerable experience in private practice.
