Service Clubs Furnish Easter Entertainment Hampers of food from well-wishers, in Greytown, Mastertou and several otner Wairarapa "and Hawke’s Bay towns arrived nt Wellington last week in time to assure an adequate supply of Easter fare for city and suburban service duosmaintaining “open house” over the hoii days. , , . Mindful of the forces’ predominant de-mands—-dood, rest and relaxation organizing committees nt the different centres have been kept busy compiling activity programmes which also stress tne home atmosphere sorely missed by all servicemen and women, notwithstanding the comforts available at their camps or elsewhere. With uniforms, and in the case of the merchant seamen silver lapel badges, as admission tickets, guests trooped* into lounges and cafeterias and dance floors were thronged with couples. Yesterday’s heavy showers curtailed several plans for outdoor trips, but sports schedules, harbour excursions and picnics were well filled on Saturday. Seamen attended a special meditation service at one of the few clubs open all day on Good Friday, and concerts, socials rfiid dances followed the evening services.yel.l yesterday. Thanks to a city-wide contingent of voluntary helpers hospitality activities were kept at , a lively tempo, and individual Easter gifts of fruit and cigarettes were distributed.
