WEST COAST TIMBER
Ship To Resume Schedule Runs To Wellington Dominion Special Service. GREYMOUTII. Marell 24. For the first time since December the steamer Karn will arrive at Greymoutli on Sunday to resume the schedule to AVellington which was suspended when the bar position seriously deteriorated. She will take 400,006 super feet, of timber and. provided conditions remain good, will in future maintain a regular schedule. During the last three months .such timber as has gone by sea has been part cargo with coal, and tlie resumption of the Kilim’s service will be an important development. The bar position is fairly stable at present, but larger ships are restricted to four-fifths of their normal tonnage, which is not altogether economic on long runs to the North Island. There have been several instances of loaded ships bumping when crossing the bar. but without causing damage.
