Three Amendments By Committee CASE OF CASUAL WORKERS Three amendments have been made to the Annual Holidays Bill by the Labour Bills Committee of the House of Representatives, which reported back to the House yesterjlay. , An amendment makes it clear that a.l casual workers are covered by the Bill, which in its original form excluded periods of employment of less than one week from the benefits of its provisions. Another amendment states that social security and national security taxes are to be paid by casual workers surrendering uncancelled stamps for cash in lieu of the prescribed holiday period. The third amendment states that holidays given to waterfront workers and rally clerks employed on the waterfront are to be at ordinary rates of pay. In the original Bill the word “pay” was used in the clause dealing with these workers.
