WIND-UP OF DISPUTE
Miners’ Call-up Notices Cancelled < EIGHT MEN PAID OFF Dominion Special Service. GREYMOUTH, Mareh 24. It appears probable that the final chapter has been written jn the Runanga mines dispute with the cancellation today of the calling-up notices issued to just on 200 employees at the Strongman and Liverpool pits as a sequel to the dismissal of the appeals on their behalf following evidence of go-slow tactics. The first party of men were due to enter camp on Tuesday, but the status ante was restored with notifications from the army that it was unnecessary for them to proceed further. The Alines Department today, in. the terms of the instructions of the Alinister of Alines, paid off eight employees who yesterday declined to honour the agreement made between the union executive and Air. Webb. They are now, available for posting to camp or direction to work in another essential industry. The miners at Dobson and Wallsend have agreed to a request made by the Alinister to work “back” Saturdays during the winter and they also decided to work on Good Friday and Easter Saturday and observe a holiday on Easter Monday.
