A tresh northerly died away to provide pleasant sailing. Putorino, which made the fastest time, only gained twelfth place after allowance had been made for the handi caps. An exciting finish was seen when the Idle Along, Riptide, which had led al. the way round, was just headed acrose the line bv Putorino. Credit 16 due to the club officials for the fact that, after the handicaps had been included, the first and last boats were separated by only four minutes. Results are as follows: —Nuhumui (30min.), 1; Riptide (jmin.), 2; Ailcen (lOmin.). 3. , The Heretaunga Boating Club “ad a busy weekend, when two of Its major, annual events; were hold. The committee challenge cup was contested on Saturday afternoon by a field of 15 yachts. Though the weather was not unduly heavy, eight of the 15 boats capsized. In addition to the championship pennant, the Rongoinai Cup was competed for in this series of races. This trophy was .awarded to the boat which averaged the highest placing in the three races.
