GIRL’S ASSAILANT MEETS TROUBLE
(Bv Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, February 19. A man who attacked a W.A.A.C. corporal in a Christchurch street last night ran into a packet of real trouble. The girl left a tram at the foot of Cashmere Hills and was going down Cashmere Road when the man knocked her over. The girl was carrying a bottle of medicine, 'and this broke in her fall. With great presence of mind she retained the broken top of the bottle and beat off her assailant, cutting him on the face and hands. She escaped uninjured except for bruises and shock, but her clothes were covered in the blood of the attacker. Detectives now await information concerning any person suffering from disfiguring cuts.
