U.S. EFFICIENCY EXPERT COMMITS SUICIDE

(Received February 20, 7 p.m.) RUGBY, February 19. Mr. Charles Bedaux, originator of the Bedaux speed-up system for industrial employees, has died at Miami. Arrested in January, 1943, at Algiers, on charges of trading with the enemy, Bedaux has been in the custody of the immigration officers at Miami for the past two months. [M. Bedaux was a close friend of the Duke and Duchess of. Windsor.] A message from Miami says that Mr. John Burling, immigration agent, said that Bedaux took an overdose of sleeping powders nnd left a suicide note a few hours after he learnt that a grand jury would be convened to decide whether he could be indicted for treason and communication with high German officials and file Vichy French Government.
