Handling Of Bread

Sir,—Your correspondent’s letter 13 reference to the unhygienic manner in which bread is handled is very much to the point, and it is to be hoped that tuhealth authorities will use their best deavours to immediately improve tue situation. I would also like to' refer to a most objectionable habit which a laru percentage of shop assistants have, namely, that of licking the finger to obtain paper for the wrapping of parcels. Suiely it is time this unhygienic and repulsive practice was put a stop to, specially when it may be a-very effective means o£ transmitting infectious complaints.—l ara, etc., HYGIENE. ■ Wellington, February 15.
