BOY AS THEFT AGENT
It was alleged by Chief Detective J. Thompson in the Magistrates’ Court, Wellington, yesterday, that Cyril Victor Hasmore, taxi-driver, met a boy of 16 in a cafe at 3 a.-qi. one day and persuaded him to remove a headlamp from a car to’ replace one missing from his taxi. He gave the boy 10/- for his trouble. It was a bad sort of case. The bov was being dealt with in the Children’s Court. Mr. A. W. Free said Hasmore took the boy in his car in the ordinary course of business, and it was not: till they got to the street where the offence was committed that defendant knew how the boy was going to get the headlamp for him. There had been a general discussion at the cafe about a headlamp, when the boy volunteered that he could get one. Hasmore was fined £5 for the theft ot the headlamp, which belonged to li. D. Morrow. ____________
