Mr. A. Brewer’s Retirement

After 40 years’ service with the reserves department of the Wellington City Council, Mr. A. Brewer, custodian of the Basin Reserve, will retire in April. He has received high commendation from captains of overseas cricket teams for the excellence of the wickets he prepared. He will -be succeeded as custodian of the Basin Reserve by Mr. H. Wilkins, who ligs been custodian of the Kilbirnie Recreation Ground for the past 11. years, and who has also earned a high name for himself by the uniform excellence of the wickets he has prepared on that large playing field. Mr. Wilkins started work for the reserves department as a groundsman at Kelburn Park, and, before being promoted, custodian of the Kilbirnie Recreation Ground, he had charge of Prince of Wales Park for eight years. Mr. IV. Marshall, custodian of Prince of Wales Park, will succeed Mr. Wilkins at Kilbirnie.
