WATERSIDER’S THEFT
John Patrick Burke, 64, watersidcr. was ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within a year when he pleaded guilty before Mr. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrates’ Court, Wellington, .vest, rd ay to stealing £24 belonging to the Wellington Harbour Board. It was stated that he had drawn from the board's payout office money due to a man named D. Burke. He had been quite frank and restitution was made. At present lie wjas on compensation for injury. For him, Mr. D. Perry said that liquor may have had something to do witli the offence. Accused's reputation was good. He had seen the name of D. Burke posted ou the payout board, and not knowing of any Burke by that initial thought the money due to him.
