NOTICE IS GIVEN of a decision of the Goods Service Charges Tribunal increasin'- the existing goods service chargee lu undermentioned districts by 5 per cent, from March 1>- 1044. No. 10 SOUTHERN MANAWATU: Shannon, Levin and the southern district to Paekakariki-Horowlienua and part nut' Counties. , . , Extract from Tribunal s decision : — The Tribunal, after giving careful consideration to all relevant factors, has decided as follows: GENERAL —(1) Where a charge lor extra labour is fixed at not less than «/o per hour, the rate shall not. be increased, but where a lower labour charge is oxen it is to bo increased to 3/6 per hour. (-1 Where a labour charge is fixed on a per unit basis for special work (e.g., sheeting trucks, bagging coal, slacking firewood In trucks), such charge shall hot be increased. (3) Where a minimum charge is fixed for a special trip to pick up a parcel, such charge shall not be increased. (4) Where reference is made in any schedule to the Licensing Authority as the rate-fixing authority, the reference is Io be deemed to be to Hue Tribunal. (5) Wheie, owing to the. uneven graduation of charges in any mileage scale, a lower rate would appear to be payable for anv specified distance than for a shorter distance, the rate payable Is to be the higher rate. (6) W here special penalty rates are provided, e.g, in the case of absence of' facilities for loading pigs, wool, etc., such rates snad not be increased. (7) Where a schedule makes no provision for contracts being entered into between operators and dairy factory companies, bobby-calf, pig and other stock pools and timber millers, such con tract’s may be entered into subject to-toe charges being fixed or approved by the Tribunal. (8) Nothing in this decision shall apply to or affect any charges payable under contracts for the carriage or goods at rates other than schedule lates.. (9) This decision shall come into force and be operative on and from the first day of .March, 1944; and the schedule charges in respect of which percentage increases are herein authorized are declared to be the respective schedule charges as prescribed and in force on the fifteenth day of December, 1942. The said schedu.e charges, subject to the amendments herein authorized, are hereby confirmed. (9) NORTHERN MANAWATU. (10) SOUTHERN MANAWATU. (a) In the above two areas the schedule charges shall be increased by 5 per cent, (b) The description of the northern boundary of the Northern Manawatu Schedule Area is amended in conformity with the amendment of the description of the southern boundary of the. Taihape Schedule Area as set out hereunder in (e). (c) The southern boundary of the Taihape Schedule Area is extended eastward of Mangaweka so as to include within the area that portion of the Kiwitea County comprising the southern watershed of the Kawhatau River, (d) The words “Feilding-Huntcr-ville-Bulls” are deleted from the provision relating to fertilizers and lime in the Northern Manawatu schedule. (8) TAIHAPE. <a) The Schedule charges shall be increased by 5 per cent. (b) The southern boundary of the Taihape Schedule Area is extended eastward of Mangaweka so as to iuclude within the area that portion of the Kiwitea County comprising the southern watershed of the Kawhatau River.
