Burma (British Official Wireless.) (Received February 16, 7 p.m.) RUGBY, February 10. - Enemy positions westward of Fort White were successfully shelled by our artillery on February 13. states a Southeast Asia communique. Our artillery also knocked out a bunker position further to the east. Active patrolling by our forces continued northward of Fort White. There is nothing to report from Mualbem. On Sunday night Japanese troops made an unsuccessful attack on one of our positions north-west of Pantha. In Arakan, on Friday night, our forces made a successful raid south of Maungdaw, killing 15 of the enemy. On Sunday night enemy patrols were active in tne Razabil area. Early on Monday, Japanese troops captured one of'our positions south-west of Taung Bazaar, after heavy fighting in which they suffered considerable casualties. Operations to clear our lines of communications are. continuing, and slow progress is being, made against determined Japanese resistance and counter-attacks. North of the Hukawng Valley, Chinese troops are in contact with the enemy. Chinese troops continued their advance eight miles south-west of Taipha Ga, without encountering any opposition, but have made contact with the enemy still further south. ■ ■ West African troops with, the .Fourteenth Army have reached a point 70 miles from Akyab. They have forced their way through very hard country and half of the journey was made by water on rafts. . ' The Japanese are making a determined effort to limit the activities of the.
