HIGHER RUBBER PRICE
(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, February 13.
The British Government has agreed to a scheme for increases in the price of rubber, ranging from 2d. to 6d. per lb. over the existing price of 1/2, based on production for each quarter. The scheme comes into operation on Monday, February 14. and will be iu force till June 30, 1945. Under the scheme, the annual basic production is fixed at an agreed figure, and an increase in price is granted in proportion to the extent, by which the production in each quarter exceeds the base. Tf production falls short of the base the price will remain at 1/2. An immediate 2d. per lb. increase has been granted in respect of the remaining period of this quarter.
