Raiders Over London Area (Received February 14, 9 p.m.) LONDON, February 13. A savage barrage met raiders which approached the Loudon area during a brief but lively alert tonight. The barrage grew in intensity when some of the raiders crossed the London area. . The raid was somewhat heavier than the two previous ones, slightly more raiders reaching the London area. Flares were dropped in several places and also incendiaries on one London district. The Germans sent more planes than usual to London last night, apparently attempting a fire raid, says the “Daily Maily.” Scores of incendiaries rained on one densely populated London area, setting on fire many houses. A church was burnt out in another area, but tire brigades and fire guards quickly dealt with most of the fires. Four of the raiders were destroyed over Britain. An East Anglian town had its sharpest raid for some time. Inceudiaries fell near two cinemas, which were evacuated. There was slight enemy activity over south-east England, including the London area, early last night. Bombs which were dropped at several points caused little damage and no casualties. Oue raider is known to have been destroyed. American Marauders and R.A.F, Typhoon fighter-bombers today bombed military objectives .in the north of France. The Marauders were escorted and supported by R.A.F., Dominion and Allied fighters. In daylight yesterday in attacks on railways and other objectives in northern France and the Bay of Biscay, five enemy aircraft were destroyed for the loss of one.
